Nelson Morgan Breeden and Martha Jane Conatser

My grandmother, Margaret Alice Breeden McEntire, was the daughter of Nelson Morgan Breeden and Martha Jane Conatser Breeden.  Nelson is buried in a town cemetery in Gaffney, SC and rests near Fred and Maggie's children Myrtle and Noreen, both who died before the age of five.   Martha Jane is buried in the Piney Knob Baptist Church Cemetery in (Shingle Hollow) Rutherfordton, NC.  She rests near Billy McEntire, son of Fred and Maggie, who also died as a young boy.
The entry shares the line of Martha Jane Conatser.

Grandma Maggie described Martha Jane as a "severe" woman and one without much humor.  In her later years, she was riddled with arthritis and often was looked after by my mother, Fern.  Fern was often housebound as a result of lingering poor health after Scarlet Fever damaged her heart's mitral valve.  Once, while looking after Martha Jane, Fern fell into an open fire place while loading wood, and Granny Maggie told me she "soaked scraps in buttermilk to wrap on my mother's arms for healing intent."

Martha Jane was the daughter of Andrew Conatser and Martha (Margaret?) Jane Bohannan (daughter of Henry Bohannan) Conatser.   (Note:  Margaret Bohannan had a brother, Evan.  Evan's line - Dolly Parton).
